When did rouge become blush?

by Micawbr on August 17, 2008

My son asked what the pink stuff was that girls put on their cheeks. I said, “It’s called rouge.” I found out I was wrong. My wife, V, caught my response, laughed and admonished me for being out of touch. Rouge is what little old ladies wear. Today women wear blush. Now, I know.

Later that same day, V showed me a plastic kitchen utensil. “I need one of these. Exactly like this. Exactly.”

Okay, she wanted a spatula.

Wrong…again. She wanted a “turner”.

I think I’ll just go watch TV, er, I mean the home entertainment system.
