Signed up our oldest for kindergarten at Clara Peterson Elementary School in Paxton. It’s a public school, but there’s a registration fee…$65! For what? We have to provide everything he needs. Oh, and if he wants to have a drink that’s a another $30. Cha-ching!
Last year he was in preschool which didn’t cost a thing. Plus he received free juice. So what exactly does the kindergarten registration fee cover?
And I’ve got another beef with Clara Peterson Elementary … at pre-registration or whatever they call it, we get to sign up for morning or afternoon classes and write our selection on a paper hanging on the wall. Good. But then the principal says many of the people who want the morning session will have to work with them and go with afternoon instead. He appreciates our cooperation because they don’t have enough staff for the morning. Huh?
The solution seems clear. Move the staff to where the demand is. If everyone wants (or needs) mornings, then meet that need.
